Outdoor Insights from Kindergarten Kids
When spending extended periods of time outdoors each day with my students, I experience a sense of well-being that isn't replicated anywhere else. I know that daily outdoor learning time benefits my students, too - in so many ways - but I enjoy hearing about the benefits from my students themselves, in their own words.
Over the last two weeks, I asked my students to tell me some of their thoughts about our daily outdoor learning times together. Their comments about what they notice and experience outdoors make me more perceptive and appreciative when I'm outdoors, either on my own or with the students.
Read their comments slowly and thoughtfully. Notice the themes of social, physical, academic, and emotional well-being that emerge . . .
